By creating an account or using nooklang.com (“Nook”, “the Service”), you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use Nook. Questions: [email protected].

1. The Service

Nook is a language-learning platform that presents curated YouTube videos with AI-generated bilingual transcripts and vocabulary tools. Videos are embedded from YouTube and remain subject to YouTube's Terms of Service. Nook does not host or redistribute video files.

2. Your account

  • You must be at least 16 years old to use Nook. By creating an account you confirm that you meet this age requirement.
  • You are responsible for keeping your account secure. Notify us immediately of any unauthorised access.
  • One account per person. Do not share accounts or create accounts on behalf of others without their consent.
  • We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, at our discretion.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Scrape, crawl, or systematically download content from Nook without written permission.
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service.
  • Use the Service to transmit spam, malware, or any unlawful content.
  • Circumvent any access controls or rate limits.
  • Resell or sublicense access to the Service.

4. Content and intellectual property

YouTube content.Videos displayed on Nook are YouTube embeds. All rights in the underlying video content remain with the original creators and are governed by YouTube's Terms of Service.

Nook content.Translations, vocabulary definitions, phonetic transcriptions, and all other content produced by Nook (“Nook Content”) is owned by Nook. You may use Nook Content for personal, non-commercial language learning. You may not reproduce, distribute, or sell Nook Content without written permission.

Your contributions.In future versions of Nook, you may submit corrections, mnemonics, or other contributions (“User Content”). By submitting User Content you grant Nook a worldwide, royalty-free licence to use, display, and distribute that content within the Service.

5. Subscriptions and payments

Nook currently operates as a free service. When paid plans are introduced:

  • Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store card details.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled.
  • You may cancel at any time; access continues until the end of the paid period.
  • Refunds are issued at our discretion for valid technical reasons.

6. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” without warranty of any kind. We do not guarantee that translations or vocabulary definitions are error-free, complete, or suitable for professional, medical, or legal use. Nook is a learning aid, not a certified translation service.

We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. We may modify or discontinue features at any time.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Nook's total liability for any claim arising from your use of the Service is limited to the amount you paid to Nook in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $10, whichever is greater. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.

8. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Malaysia. Any dispute shall be resolved in the courts of Malaysia, unless a mandatory consumer-protection law in your country provides otherwise.

9. Changes

We may revise these terms at any time. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms. Material changes will be notified by email.
